Terry Wogan Visits Portmagee to film Wogans Ireland in the Moorings and Bridge Bar

Here at the Moorings, we've had the great pleasure of meeting many celebrities and famous people from the worlds of the arts, sports, politics and the media. And, after a while, you realize that they're usually very nice, very regular people and nothing to be afraid of. But we were a little bit starstruck when we found out that BBC broadcasting legend - and there is no other word big enough to encapsulate the man - Terry Wogan had chosen to stay with us in the Moorings to film "Wogan's Ireland", a two-part documentary series the BBC is broadcasting later this year.

Terry and his production crew arrived and settled into their rooms before enjoying our hospitality in the Moorings restaurant.

The main event was the Irish Night in the Bridge Bar, where we have traditional Irish Music and dancing every Tuesday night. Terry appeared to be having a great time, chatting with the locals and soaking up the atmosphere.

And the verdict from the man himself?

"where the seafood leaps from the shore on to your plate, and the 'craic' in the bar is mighty. Song and dance, fiddle and bodhran, you'd never know there was a Depression"

That's from Terry's article, "The craic is mighty in Portmagee" in the Telegraph where he has a regular column. Also have a look at Terry's blog to keep up to date on his whereabouts.
