The table below outlines the main points of entry to the country and distances and approximate travel times by car. On Irish roads, you'll find that numbers are far smaller than they actually are. We've added approximate travel time for driving to Portmagee.

Location Distance to Portmagee Travel Time
Dublin Airport 384 km 5 and a half hours
Cork 160 km 2 and a half hours
Kerry Airport 80 km 1 and a half hours

Killarney 80 km 1 hour and 20 minutes

Part of the reason for why it might take longer than you're used to is the endless parade of breathtaking scenery on the way here, particularly on the Ring of Kerry, and also the fact that Irish pubs are exceptionally magnetic to local and touist alike. Of course there aren't too many autobahnen here either. If you are planning on driving, remember, Ireland is about enjoying where you are, not rushing to be somewhere else, so ease off the accelerator and enjoy the journey.
