The Moorings Guesthouse and Restaurant Portmagee, County Kerry (11/25/2016) is the best rural business award winner in the 2016 Kerryman Business Awards for their innovative business ideals, positive impact on the community and their exceptional customer service standards. The kerryman awards for business excellence were set up to reward people who make top quality business practices their priorities and have been innovative in their approach. This inaugural Kerryman award equally honored Kerry’s many industry leaders by acknowledging their inventive business methods, product development, enterprise and success.

Established in 1958, the award-winning Moorings Guesthouse and Bridge Bar has been providing quality hospitality and outstanding dining services to the locals and many high profile clients for more than 20 years. Located in the historic town of Portmagee, which hosted the filming of Star Wars “the Force Awakens” and the Skellig Ring that was voted among the top 10 places to visit in 2017 by Lonely Planet.

The Moorings, which specializes in fresh seafood, hosted the pre-production team of the Star Wars movie. The company revealed that during the time of filming, the village was alive with media, journalists and Star Wars fans and Portmagee has since become a tourist hot spot for tourists and fans to visit, to listen to stories from the locals and to visit the Island where the magic took place.
